To cast or not to cast votes; that’s the question
The politics in Iran is getting too much fucking. The Guardians Council obviously removes reformists from the list of honest candidates that people can cast their votes for them, and in the other hand, in a response to this ridiculous action, reformists sit in at Majles (Parliament). It seems that a show is performing. Ultimately, nothing is in favor of people and their basic rights—just taking power.
People in Iran these days are not sure if to cast votes or not. Most of them say that they will never cast votes as long as the Islamic regime is in power.
A few years ago Iranians were so encouraged, they saw Khatami as their savior who can bring them freedom and make relations with the outside world, especially United States. But now, after many tries objected by hardliner conservatives, Iranians are so disappointed. They know that as long as there is something like Supreme Leadership (or so-called ‘Velayat Faghih’) in power structure—with unlimited power—nothing can get better. Approximately all of Iranians hate Khamenei, and hate his followers who see him—or pretend to see him—as a divine leader.
I myself still don’t know if it is better to cast votes for this year’s parliamentary election or not (which is about 35 days next). If Guardians Council keeps denying top reformists from making them candidates, I would surely not cast vote. It is getting a paradox in Iran, I really ask myself if we’ll finally see a democratic government here with no Khamenei-like at the top, and when?
